“Red”, Now Playing at Orlando Shakes 04/18/12

Tony Award Winning Play “Red” at Orlando Shakes

Red is written by John Logan

A visceral, “superbly taut” (Chicago Tribune) battle of wills, John Logan’s play took Broadway by storm, winning the 2010 Tony Award for Best Play. Orlando Shakes now brings this smart, scintillating portrait of an artist’s ambition and vulnerability to Orlando for its Central Florida premiere.  At the height of his career, Mark Rothko struggles with a series of grand-scale paintings for New York’s elite FourSeasons restaurant. When his new assistant challenges his artistic integrity, Rothko must confront his own demons or be crushed by the ever-changing art world he helped create. Red contains strong adult language and mature themes.
