Homeless Animals of Seminole County
Guest by Annette Best.
TEARS stands for Together Every Animal Receives Support, we are a support group for Seminole County Animal Services and the homeless animals of Seminole County. Since SCAS is a government agency they do not have the ability to fundraise and they are limited to the funds available to them. Many times they have animals that come into the shelter with medical needs that are not in their budget…that is where we step in. We do fundraising events in order to cover the medical costs so the life of that animal is saved. We also assist in making the shelter a better place for the animals that are awaiting their forever homes. We have done small projects, such as providing trees and mulch to the adoption yard, along with providing screening for the runs. We are presently working to revamp the ventilation system in the runs in order to provide a better environment for the animals, the people who take care of them and the public who comes to adopt them.
In March we had our 1st annual Sit, Stay, Sip and Save a Life wine event, where we raised over $16,000! Don’t worry if you missed it this year…we are already planning the 2nd Sit, Stay, Sip for March 2013.
TEARS has presently teamed up with Petco of Altamonte Springs and Sanford. We will be bringing dogs and cats out two Saturdays a month for adoptions (and yes, we will have our awesome baskets that will be raffled off at these events). You can check out our upcoming events at www.tearsofseminolecounty.org.
Seminole County Animal Services has many great animals for adoption, from pure breds to mixed breeds, from cats to dogs, you can find the perfect match for you. Check out some of the available animals at http://www.petfinder.com/
