Quantum Leap Winery, Orlando’s First Winery

The Italians Have Arrived at Quantum Leap Winery

Quantum Leap Winery, Orlando’s first winery, is hosting an event from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, to introduce three of its Italian white wines shipped exclusively from Cedar Creek Ranch Winery. Attendance is limited to the first 125 guests, and the cost of the event is $21 in advance and $25 at the door.

“The Italians are Here!” will feature tastings of a Pinot Grigio, a soft white blend of northern Italian grapes called Garda, and a Reserve level white blend called Custova. In addition to the wine tasting, guests will be able to enjoy live music by You Knew Me When, a husband and wife folk-indie rock duo from Nashville, Tenn., and Italian light bites, including Caprese sticks, bruschetta cups, Italian skewers and flatbreads.

The Pinot Grigio is from the Bricolo family, which owns the Gorgo Winery and has been making wine for almost 40 years. This wine is grown in northern Italy, just outside of Verona, on the Bricola family’s sustainably farmed vineyards. This Pinot Grigio is fruity and smooth with pleasant citrus and pear flavors — perfect with appetizers or lighter dishes.

“All three Italian white wines came from a beautiful, family-owned winery about 10 miles southwest of Lake Garda in the Veneto region,” said David Forrester, co-owner of Quantum Leap Winery. “When we toured the vineyards, we had to push our jeep through herds of sheep since they grow sustainably and use sheep to naturally groom and fertilize the vineyard.”

Garda is an Italian white wine blend also by the Bricolo family that is comprised of four northern Italian varietals. The grapes for this wine were grown on the hills outside of Verona and yield a bright, well-balanced wine with nice pear and floral aromas and a refreshing fruit-forward finish.

Another Bricolo family offering is the Custoza DOC.  This white wine blend is made from four Northern Italian varietals — 30 percent Garganega, 30 percent Trebbiano, 10 percent Trebbianello and 30 percent Cortese. It is an elegant wine that has a wonderful balance between floral and fresh fruit aromas and a smooth, medium-bodied, fruit-forward palate.

“The white Italian blend we bought from the Bricolo family that we are finishing and bottling here in Orlando is a lovely light and easy drinking wine perfect for a day outdoors,” said Quantum Leap Winery co-owner Jill Ramsier.

Quantum Leap Winery blends wines from the world’s premier wine-growing regions and bottles, packages and sells wines directly to consumers. Additionally, the venue, which is nestled in the Mills 50 District off Virginia Drive, hosts wine tastings, serves as an event venue, provides wines to restaurants and offers retail sales of their wines and wine-related merchandise.
