2nd Annual Broomstick Pony Derby

A whimsical fundraiser for the Urban Think Foundation

The Broomstick Pony Derby is a day of .131- and .262-mile broomstick pony races and pageantry happening on the afternoon of Kentucky Derby Day at Urban ReThink in Downtown Orlando. Central Blvd will closed off from Eola Drive to Summerlin to accommodate a lineup of event festivities that include races, a broomstick pony parade, a raffle, people and ponies dancing in the street to music provided by DJ Si, vendors, and food and drink specials provided by Thornton Park area businesses. Event attendance is free; race registration is $20 per person, or $60 for a team of four.

WHERE: Urban ReThink, 625 E. Central Blvd., Orlando, Florida 32801

WHEN: Saturday, May 4, 2013, 3:00- 6:00pm

Race registration and associated festivities begin at 3:00pm. Races begin at 4:00pm.

Most of the ponies being raced have been created at Urban ReThink’s Broomstick Pony-Making Workshops, led by local artists, including IBEX Puppetry. Two workshops remain before Derby Day: Thursday, April 25th at 6:25pm and Thursday, May 2nd at 6:25pm.  Details and Updates @ BroomstickPonyDerby.com
