Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex Celebrates Skylab 40th Anniversary Reunion with Special Astronaut Encounter

Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex guests can experience a special Astronaut Encounter event at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 27 in celebration of the Skylab 40thAnniversary Reunion. The event is included in regular Visitor Complex admission.

 Veteran NASA astronaut Fred Gregory will moderate a discussion with 10 astronauts from the Skylab team. Skylab was the first and only American space station in orbit around Earth from 1973 to 1974.

 Astronauts participating in the reunion discussion include:

         Karol “Bo” Bobko, Vance Brand, Jerry Carr,  Bob Crippen,  Owen Garriott, Ed Gibson, Jack Lousma, Bill Pogue,  William Thornton and Paul Weitz.

 Skylab launched aboard the last of the Apollo-era Saturn V rockets on May 14, 1973.  Skylab’s mission studied the sun and Earth, the effects of zero gravity on the human body for long-duration space flights and additional scientific experiments.
