The Orlando Solar Bears have a new feather for their hat this week because their very own Mike Ullrich was named the Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week. The Solar Bears explained why the 27 year-old forward Ullrich was such an impressive player.
“Ullrich notched a goal on Monday, December 30, to help the Solar Bears to a 4-3 come-from-behind win over the Florida Everblades, picked up an assist in 3-2 overtime loss to Utah on Thursday, and then had a three point game with two goals and one assist against the Grizzlies in a thrilling 6-5 win on Friday. He capped off the week with two assists, including one on the overtime game-winning goal, on Sunday afternoon as Orlando defeated Utah 4-3 in extra time. Ullrich finished the week with a +5 rating.”
He currently leads the team with 18 assists and is second on the team with 26 points. American Hockey League’s Manchester Monarchs saw Ullrich play three games this season for them. In Ullrich’s full 71 ECHL game career has seen an impressive 66 points.
To celebrate the honor of Ullrich being named Player of the Week a case of pucks will be donated to Orlando youth hockey teams by Sher-Wood Hockey, the exclusive puck supplier of the ECHL.
The Orlando Solar Bears are the ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Minnesota Wild and Toronto Maple Leafs.
