Thanks to coordination from the Metro Orlando Film Commission, a division of the Metro Orlando Economic Development Commission, a Winter Park parade for a returning veteran will be featured in a Budweiser commercial during this Sunday’s Super Bowl XLVIII.
The fanfare, including bands and the Budweiser Clydesdales, was filmed earlier this month in downtown Winter Park. It was a complete surprise for Lt. Chuck Nadd returning home from military service in Afghanistan.
The one-day shoot took several weeks of coordination among the Metro Orlando Film Commission, City of Winter Park and Budweiser’s production company.
“Showcasing our region to the nation during one of TV’s biggest nights and for such a worthwhile cause is the reason we’re in this business,” said Orlando Film Commissioner Sheena Fowler.
Budweiser said its editors recognized the content – which includes Winter Park’s preparation and heartfelt messages of thanks from neighbors, casual acquaintances and strangers alike – was too good to restrict to a 30-second commercial. Instead, they decided to make a “Hero’s Welcome” a full 60-second Super Bowl spot – and it will kick off a yearlong campaign honoring U.S. military.
