Last time Mr. Sheeran played Orlando’s Amway Center, he opened for “the” Taylor Swift. Ladies swooned, guys were jealous of his accent, and he was, perhaps to my surprise, very good live. And very charming. But Sheeran needs no introduction now, and has plans to headline his very own evening at the Amway Center this September.
Ed Sheeran announced the Orlando stop is set for Tuesday, September 8 at 7:30 p.m. as part of the second leg of his North American Tour. Tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday, April 17 at 10 a.m.
While predictable based on the amount of radio play he gets, Sheeran’s summer tour has sold out most dates in minutes, including Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, Newark’s Prudential Center, and back-to-back nights at the iconic Hollywood Bowl. He also has top billing at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, Beale Street Music Festival in Memphis, Rock in Rio USA in Las Vegas, and Summerfest in Milwaukee. Sheeran’s worldwide tour will conclude with three sold out nights at London’s Wembley Stadium.
