The Beautiful Game in the City Beautiful

3-19-2015 Orange County to Host Friendly Futbol Fiesta Photo

It is a very busy week for the beautiful game in the City Beautiful. Beginning tonight and running through Saturday, there is plenty of soccer for everyone!

Orlando City vs Colorado Rapids

Tonight the Lions look to extend their unbeaten home streak to five against the Colorado Rapids. Colorado comes into the match with just 12 goals in 15 matches, just good enough for last place in the Western Conference. Orlando City hopes to capitalize on their recent success in front of the Citrus Bowl faithful again tonight. After a disappointing away loss to Montreal this past Saturday night, the Lions hope to right the ship and stay in the playoff hunt. USA vs China in Women’s World Cup

This Friday the U.S. women take on China in their quarterfinal match-up. With some questionable play in this World Cup, the ladies have managed to take care of business on the pitch.  Scoring just four goals in the group stage, the United States defense has been the real hero of the tournament so far. With just one goal allowed in 4 matches, there is no question the U.S. defense, anchored by Hope Solo has dominated play thus far. With a win this Friday against China, The U.S. would secure a semi final match up against the winner of Germany v France. All City Pub locations will be airing the match this Friday beginning at 7:30 pm.  Find your location by clicking here: CITY PUBS

International Friendly: Mexico vs Costa Rica

In a clash of CONCACAF power houses, Mexico and Costa Rica look to put on a show this Saturday night at the Citrus Bowl. This will be Mexico’s first trip to Orlando since the City Beautiful hosted the 1994 World Cup. Mexico has already confirmed that international stars Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez, Giovani Dos Santos, and Guillermo Ochoa will be making the trip to Orlando. Chicharito has been linked to Orlando City in recent months as a possible signing when the transfer window opens up in July.  The 27-year-old is currently on loan to Real Madrid from Manchester United, however he would look snazzy in Orlando City purple!
