Independent Feature Film Development:
This three-hour workshop will tell you what you need to know before making a film. This is the first of what will be a four part 2016 Filmmaker Workshop series.
Instructor Donald Tynes has worked in the film industry for over sixteen years producing an independent film and a syndicated television show. His most recent project, the award-winning documentary short Dan Behind His Eyes, has played at film festivals across the country. Donald is currently assisting in the development of an independent feature film to be shot in the Florida Keys. His also an instructor at Full Sail University where he teaches classes in the Bachelor of Film program.
Entertainment Attorney, Scott Goldberg, Esq.
Scott M. Goldberg, Esq., a member of The Florida Bar, has been practicing law for 15 years. Scott Goldberg’s practice areas include Entertainment Law, Intellectual Property Law, Trademark Law, Copyright Law, Business and Corporate Law, Multimedia rights and licensing, Music Law, and Film and Television transactions. His experience in the entertainment industry has included assisting with distribution delivery legal requirements for independent films, including one of the highest grossing independent films of all time; providing production legal and delivery services for feature independent films that have obtained theatrical distribution and/or national cable network distribution; and, providing production legal services for documentary films.
Scott has been a guest speaker for the film and media program at the University of Central Florida, the film program at Valencia Community College in Orlando, Florida, the Florida Motion Picture and Television Association, the entertainment business and media program at Full Sail University, and at numerous Film Festivals and Music Festivals.
Independent Film Producer, Tommee May
Tommee May co-produced the film Goats staring David Duchovny and Vera Farmiga, which premiered at Sundance in 2012 and served as an associate producer on The Romantics with Katie Holmes and Josh Duhamel (Sundance 2010). She is the founder of Come What May Productions, and has produced an award winning web-series that was featured on Funny or Die. She is also the producer of the award winning short films Aban + Khorshid, and Delicious Ambiguity which has been an official selection at the Short Film Corner of Cannes Film Festival, Florida Film Festival, Beverly Hills Film Festival, LA Shorts Fest. Her latest short production, This Modern Man is Beat, won the stage 32 contest and premiered at the Raindance Film Festival in September 2015. Both Aban + Khorshid and Delicious Ambiguity are now in development and pre-productions stages for feature length adaptations. Currently, Tommee is the executive producer of Cary Fukunaga’s (True Detective) film, Beasts of No Nation, which premiered at the Venice Film Festival this year and was released in theaters and on Netflix October 16th.
