Japan’s Wakayama Performance Troupe to Perform “Lion Dance” at UCF

Members of the distinguished Wakayama Performance Troupe will perform Edo Satokagura, a traditional Japanese dance, November 9 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the University of Central Florida Pegasus Ballroom, 12715 Pegasus Drive. Admission is free.

Edo Satokagura will include a “Lion Dance,” a type of dance influenced by early Japanese folk tales and fables. Led by Kyosuke Suzuki, the group features performers from the prestigious National Theater of Japan and is one of the few remaining Edo Kagura schools in existence.

The Wakayama Performance Troupe will also be performing the day before at the Orlando Japan Festival on Sunday, November 8 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Village at Hunter’s Creek, 13574 Village Park Drive. The festival is a showcase of Japanese culture and admission is free for guests of all ages.
