New Horizons Arrival at Pluto
July 14, 2015 @ 8:00 PM - 10:00 PM| Free
After nine years and three BILLION miles, we have arrived!
In celebration of the New Horizons space probe’s close approach to the dwarf planet Pluto, we are offering a free special edition presentation of the planetarium show “Small Worlds” at 8 p.m., to be followed by a question-and-answer session about the newest discoveries at the edge of Solar System. Please arrive early for admission, as the planetarium is limited to 70 seats.
New Horizons is planned to make its closest approach to Pluto at 7:50 a.m. EDT on July 14. Planetarium staff will be available for print and media interviews throughout the day.
This special edition of “Small Worlds” focuses on Pluto and the other icy Solar System bodies that make up the Kuiper Belt. Utilizing the very latest research and discoveries, we’re able to take visitors to Pluto and see what the flyby looked like, as well as explore the incredible scientific instrument that is New Horizons.
