Ed Sheeran Headlines Amway Center in Orlando, Sept. 8

Last time Mr. Sheeran played Orlando’s Amway Center, he opened for “the” Taylor Swift. Ladies swooned, guys were jealous of his accent, and he was, perhaps to my surprise, very good live. And very charming. But Sheeran needs no introduction now, and has plans to headline his very own evening at the Amway Center this September.

Ed Sheeran announced the Orlando stop is set for Tuesday, September 8 at 7:30 p.m. as part of the second leg of his North American Tour. Tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday, April 17 at 10 a.m.

While predictable based on the amount of radio play he gets, Sheeran’s summer tour has sold out most dates in minutes, including Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, Newark’s Prudential Center, and back-to-back nights at the iconic Hollywood Bowl. He also has top billing at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, Beale Street Music Festival in Memphis, Rock in Rio USA in Las Vegas, and Summerfest in Milwaukee. Sheeran’s worldwide tour will conclude with three sold out nights at London’s Wembley Stadium.

For more information visit www.AmwayCenter.com and for tour updates, visit www.EdSheeran.com.

Ricky Martin’s One World Tour come to Orlando Amway Center

Grammy® Award-winner and music superstar, Ricky Martin, announced the North American dates for his One World Tour in support of his brand new album, “A Quien Quiera Escuchar,” set for release tomorrow. The 20-date tour, promoted exclusively by Live Nation, takes the acclaimed entertainer to cities throughout the U.S. and Canada starting on September 15 with shows lined up in New York City, Los Angeles, Toronto, Washington D.C., Chicago and Miami. The One World Tour stops in Orlando at the Amway Center on Sunday, October 25. Tickets go on sale Friday, February 20 at 10 a.m.

The multi-platinum, award-winning artist’s highly-anticipated 10th studio album, “A Quien Quiera Escuchar,” available in all distribution formats and in two versions – original and deluxe – is possibly the most personal and intimate to have been released by the acclaimed singer, philanthropist, author, actor and businessman. The lead single, “Adios,” has already amassed over 14 million views on Vevo since its release in October. Produced by Colombian composer, arranger and pianist, Julio Reyes Copello and recorded between Australia, Puerto Rico, Los Angeles and Mexico City, “A Quien Quiera Escuchar” showcases his vocal maturity and depth of artistry.

In support of the album, Martin will be making several national television appearances including Univision’s “Primer Impacto” (Feb. 9) and “Despierta América” (Feb. 10), Telemundo’s “Al Rojo Vivo” (Feb. 10) and “Un Nuevo Dia” (Feb. 11 & 12), “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” (Feb. 11), the “Today Show” (Feb. 12) and the “Wendy Williams Show” (Feb. 13).

Martin has sold nearly 85 million albums worldwide including six Billboard number one albums, launched several world-spanning tours selling out shows in nearly 60 countries and has won numerous accolades including six Grammy Awards, ten Billboard Music Awards and has earned worldwide recognition for his humanitarian work.

Here’s the opportunity for Central Florida Parrotheads to soak in the Margaritaville experience as part of Buffett’s, “This One’s For You Tour.”

“Spring just isn’t the same without Jimmy Buffett,” said Orlando Venues Executive Director Allen Johnson. “We are thrilled to welcome Jimmy’s return to the Amway Center and look forward to another ‘Escape to Margaritaville.’ Fins up!”

This marks the 40th anniversary of the release of Buffett’s “A1A” album, which is his first Top 40 record and includes the hit, “A Pirate Looks At Forty,” a perennial concert favorite. Another popular hit song performed at every concert is “Margaritaville,” which is ranked 234th on the Recording Industry Association of America’s list of Songs of the Century. Among the 30+ albums Buffett has released, eight are gold albums and nine are platinum or multi-platinum. His latest album, “Songs from St. Somewhere,” was released last August. In 2003, Buffett won his first Country Music Award (CMA) for his song, “It’s 5 O’clock Somewhere,” with Alan Jackson and was nominated again in 2007 for the CMA Event of the Year award for his song, “Hey Good Lookin,” featuring Alan Jackson and George Strait.

This year’s tour celebrates Buffett’s 40th touring season. The popularity of his trademark Key West and laid back atmosphere at his live shows gained a devoted following of fans, called Parrottheads. He consistently earns a spot on Billboard’s highest grossing tours. In 2014, Buffett earned the number 32 spot on Billboard’s, “Music’s Top 40 Money Makers: The Rich List.”

Catch Marvel Universe LIVE at Amway Center December 5-7

By: @jenvargas

Oh no!! The Cosmic Cube has been shattered and spread across the world! Loki is scheming again! (When ISN’T he scheming!?) What can we do?? The resourceful folks at Feld Entertainment have the answer: Marvel Universe LIVE!

Even Marvel’s Chief Creative Officer and guy with the coolest job ever, Joe Quesada, was blown away. At New York Comic Con he said, “It’s truly like nothing you’ve ever seen before. The stuff they have planned, the technologies that they’re going to be applying to this show… when I first read the script I’m like, ‘Well obviously they’re not going to be able to do this. This is going to be thrown out of the script because it’s impossible to be able to produce this live.’ No, they’re producing this stuff live! Characters that you’d be sitting there going, ‘Well there’s no way they could do that with that character or make that character appear’ no well they can actually do it. Trust me, it’s going to be mind blowing.” Quite an endorsement!

Director (and Emmy® Winner) Shanda Sawyer says, “Creating a show that brings these superheroes to life is a super human feat in and of itself.” With all the technical elements involved, I’m sure their cue sheet alone is 20 feet long. AT LEAST. Sawyer goes on to say, “We’ve been developing vehicles, motor stunts, pyro stunts, creature stunts. Everything in this show is something that’s never been done so that involves a lot of development, a lot of research, a lot of testing.

For all you tech heads out there, another cool and unique aspect to this show is new technology called BlackTrax. Essentially what this does is pinpoints and tracks LED stringers (think: embedded targets) installed in or on performers, their costumes and props or on the set pieces themselves. Once a stringer is ‘found,’ a dedicated media server system will project show elements (lasers, animations, etc) on to the target, what or whomever it might be. For a more in depth look, check out this Q&A from Live Design, and even more detail and diagrams on The CAST Group‘s page.

Feld Entertainment has invited Central Florida Top 5 to check out the show on opening night, December 5th at Amway Arena and we can’t wait to see it all in person! (My boyfriend loves Spider-Man but is really hoping for a surprise Deadpool appearance.) Want to join us? Tickets are available now at amwaycenter.com, at the Chase Box Office (in person), at Ticketmaster retail locations and over the phone at 1-800-745-3000.

To discover more about Marvel Universe LIVE!, go to www.marveluniverselive.com, or visit them on Facebook, Twitter: @MarvelOnTour or @JulietteFeld (show’s producer), YouTube, Instagram and Google+

Disney on Ice Presents “Frozen” September 4-7 at Amway Center

by @jenvargas

Feld Ent Disney On Ice Frozen

(Sung to the tune of “Let It Go“)

You must go! You must GOOOOO!! The cold shouldn’t bother you anyway….

Head’s up to all you Frozen fans out there! Anna, Elsa, Olaf and the gang will visit the Amway Center this weekend and will sing and dance for you LIVE at Disney on Ice Presents Frozen! Top 5’s longtime friend and Feld Entertainment Executive VP/Producer, Nicole Feld, is totally stoked! She says, “In our thirty five year history of Disney on Ice we have been waiting for this film! “Frozen” is such a wonderful tale and it makes for just the perfect ice show. Not just because it has to do with a wintery feeling and ice and snow which obviously lends itself to the ice medium, but because the story has so much emotional resonance with families.

We are attending a dress freezehersal (I tried?) tonight and couldn’t be more excited! Make sure to follow us on Twitter and Jen for pretty pictures, as well as @DisneyOnIce, @AmwayCenter and the hashtags #DisneyOnIce and #Frozen for some ‘cool‘ behind the scenes tweets!

A bunch of seats in the upper level were just released, and they’re starting at only $20!

Deep within a forest, at the summit of a volcano, exists an extraordinary world¾a world where something else is possible.  A world called Varekai.

The sky lets go a solitary young man and the story of Varekai begins. Parachuted into the shadows of a magical forest, a kaleidoscopic world imbued with fantastical creatures, a young man takes flight in an adventure both absurd and extraordinary. On this day at the edge of time, in this place of pure and undiluted possibility, begins an inspired incantation to a life rediscovered and to a newly found wonder in the mysteries of the world and the mind.

The word Varekai (pronounced ver·ay·’kie) means “wherever” in the Romany language of the gypsies¾the universal wanderers.  Directed by Dominic Champagne, this production pays tribute to the nomadic soul, to the spirit and art of the circus tradition, and to those who quest with infinite passion along the path that leads to Varekai.

“In our more than 30 years of producing Disney On Ice shows, Feld Entertainment has been waiting for a film like this,” says producer Nicole Feld.  “While it might seem obvious that Frozen is well suited for the ice, this Disney On Ice production will touch audiences emotionally through innovative show elements and world-class skating.”

Frozen directors Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee add, “Seeing audiences around the world embrace Frozen has been the experience of a lifetime.  And to now have the chance to consult with the talented team at Feld Entertainment and watch their creation come to life on ice, is thrilling.”

Tickets On Sale June 3 for Touring Skating Spectacular  Featuring Dynamic Sisters Anna and Elsa, Appearing for the First Time in a Live Production
