Restrictions- Safety is our first priority!

For safety reasons, bicycles, rollers skates, in-line skates, and dogs will be prohibited from the race course. The use of headphones is discouraged.

Walker Friendly Events

Keeping Central Florida Fit is our mission. Walkers are encouraged to participate in all Track Shack races. Municipalities require that road ways are clear of participants and opened as soon as the race is complete. That is why a maximum pace of 16 minutes per mile is set. If the pace isn’t maintained, race officials will ask you to move to the sidewalk to re-open the roadways.

Stroller Restrictions

• Stroller/jogger operators start behind designated stroller signage.
• Stroller/jogger operators may walk/jog no faster than 15 minute per mile, a safe operating speed. If your speed goes faster than 15 minutes per mile pace, you may be disqualified.
• Stroller/jogger operators must yield the right of way to runners. Stroller/Joggers can tip easily and cannot turn quickly. Please do not weave through packs of runners.

2015 Fast & Free Flu Shots

Over the past 13 years, Florida Hospital Centra Care, with Get Healthy Florida, has provided over 200,000 free flu shots to Florida residents. This year, they are doing it again by offering five different local opportunities to get your flu shot, fast and free.

(No reservations. First come, first served, while supplies last.)

“To combat last year’s unexpected flu strain, this year’s flu vaccine has been strengthened for broader protection,” says Centra Care President & Senior Medical Director Scott Brady, MD. “We want to remind Floridians that the single best protection against the flu is the flu shot, even for healthy children and adults.”

To help encourage the little ones, Kids Urgent Care and Florida Hospital for Children are sponsoring a special Fun & Free Tent for Kids during two of the free flu shot event days. Bring your children to get a flu shot and while there, they can enjoy: face painting; refreshments; kids activities; Flu Fighter prizes and much more!

Who Should Be Vaccinated?

The CDC recommends an annual flu vaccine for everyone, especially those who are at high risk for developing flu-related complications. Including:

  • Pregnant women
  • Children younger than 5, but especially younger than 2 years old
  • People 50 years of age and older
  • People of any age with certain chronic medical conditions
  • People who live in nursing homes and other long-term care facilities
  • People who live with or care for those at high risk for complications from flu, including:

Health care workers and household contacts of children less than 6 months of age     (these infants are too young to be vaccinated)

For those unable to attend one of the Fast & Free Flu Shot events, Centra Care offers convenient, $25 shots, 7-days a week at their 28 Florida urgent care centers; open late and weekends. Walk in anytime, or visit www.centracare.org to schedule an online No Wait Reservation.

International Diamond Center Reveals New Look in Altamonte Springs

The Iturraldediamonds.com opened an all-new showroom in Altamonte Springs last week; and it completely encompassed a new experience for an independent jewelry store. The 6,500 square-foot showroom features boutique areas for Tacori, Verragio and Forevermark; and diamonds galore! The company’s signature diamond wall consists of nearly 200 loose GIA-certified diamonds, ranging in price, shape, cut and style. Oooh la LA!

Owner Keith Leclerc was also present with his family and we found out that he’s one of the most respected diamond buyers and element collectors in the world! He hand-selects the thousands of loose diamonds located in each IDC store and is keen to learn about element collecting. At one point, he also mined his own diamonds in South America and brought them back here to the United States! Then he racked up nearly 140,000 miles on his own car, yearly, selling them up and down the eastern seaboard. Talk about a man who’s done it all in the industry!

The store was so light, airy and contemporary, we could’ve stayed for hours checking out all of the sparkle, one-of-a-kind pieces from top designers, watches and more! There’s also a beautiful photo of the Leclerc family on the wall. They own just eight stores between Clearwater, Florida (where they’re headquartered) and Savannah, Georgia with five right here in the Orlando area.

At one point during the night, Brian Stamey, vice president of marketing and retail operations, made a few remarks, “We decided it was time to reposition our brand to more accurately reflect who we are as the local diamond experts. We’ve now established a warmer, more inviting and contemporary look for those who come to IDC for their special purchases.” Stamey is also the husband of Leclerc’s oldest daughter, Ashley. (Both are UCF alumni!)

The evening benefited Florida Hospital for Children, in which 10 percent of all sales from the night went back to the hospital. IDC also raffled a custom-made pendant consisting of a statement Amethyst stone with a round diamond and pearl drop held in rose gold, collectively representing hope, healing and advocacy. They also auctioned a trip for two to tour the Tacori headquarters in Los Angeles, CA. Both, too, benefitted Florida Hospital for Children.

Speaking of Tacori, and for those Tacori fans out there, IDC is the only jeweler in the Central Florida region to carry both the brand’s wedding and fashion lines. And a few months ago, they were one of 10 jewelers across the U.S. selected to carry the Forevermark Exceptional Diamond Collection. (If you don’t know Forevermark, you most likely know De Beers. This line is a part of the De Beers family of companies.)

Besides fabulous food, drink, entertainment by a violin duo from the Florida Symphony Youth Orchestra and a photo booth, this celebration had it all.

Be sure to check out the new Altamonte Springs showroom at 249 West State Road 436 in the IDC Plaza; or find a location closest to you by visiting shopIDC.com.
