A very special guest post by: The Bencomo Family
I scream, You Scream, We all scream for Ice Cream!
If you are looking for something fun to do this weekend, then Ronald McDonald House of Central Florida has a sweet event for you that includes milkshake machines seattle wa. They will be hosting their 5th annual Ice Cream Social at the Winter Park Civic Center on Sunday, April 12, 2015 from 1-5pm.
We were not aware of the house until we ended up staying their twice with both our daughters. Now they are part of our family. Attending the Ice Cream Social is great way to support the Ronald McDonald House since the houses rely on the generosity and donations of individuals, companies, and foundations in our community. Right now, in fact, RMHC of Central Florida is trying to build a third house to help even more families at Nemours!

Top 5 reasons Ronald McDonald House is our favorite non-profit

– RMHCCF provides a home away from home for families that have a seriously sick or ill child.
We did not know about Ronald McDonald House until we had our 1st daughter, Gabriella. She was born 3 months premature and she was estimated to be in the NICU for at least 3 months. The doctors recommended that we stay at the Ronald McDonald House of Central Florida so we could be as close as possible to Gabriella. We had some very tough nights and needed to make critical decisions, sometimes at 2am or later, asking us to come right away. By staying at the Ronald McDonald House at Florida Hospital we able to return within minutes.
We stayed at the Ronald McDonald House for only 2 weeks when Gabriella passed away. Two years later we had another daughter, Bella. She was born 1 month early and had seizure activity shortly after birth. She also needed to be monitored in NICU, so we once again found ourselves in the comfort of the Ronald McDonald House of Central Florida. The House allowed us to have a warm meal and a bed to sleep in and at the same time be a few moments away. Bella came home with us after 2 weeks.
– Helps keeps families together when they need it most.
Ronald McDonald House of Central Florida has helped over 20,0000 families in the Central Florida area. Aside from having two houses already on the Florida Hospital for Children Campus and the Winnie Palmer campus, they realized there was also a need to have one at the at the newest children hospital in Central Florida at Nemours Hospital Orlando.
– It allows us to support them in easy and fun ways!
Aside from donating money, anyone can do something to help your local Ronald McDonald House! You can donate your time and help out at the house. You can participate in Share a Meal and provide a meal to the house. You can collect pop tabs from your aluminum cans and bring them in. They will be taken to be recycled in exchange for dollars.
Our family tries to do all of the above, but we also buy things from RMHCCF’s Wish List since it is a running house year round and, like in any household, things eventually run out. We are also part their Family Alumni Council. What the Ronald McDonald House provided us during those times was priceless.
– 100% of donations go directly to the Ronald McDonald Houses at the Campus’ of Florida Hospital for Children and Arnold Palmer Hospital.
It costs families $20.00 a day to stay at the Ronald McDonald House, however no family is ever turned away if they are not able to afford to stay. The goal is to keep the family close to their sick child in the hospital.
– Attending all RMHC’s FUN events!
