2015 Fast & Free Flu Shots in Colonial Town

Over the past 13 years, Florida Hospital Centra Care, with Get Healthy Florida, has provided over 200,000 free flu shots to Florida residents. This year, they are doing it again by offering five different local opportunities to get your flu shot, fast and free.

“To combat last year’s unexpected flu strain, this year’s flu vaccine has been strengthened for broader protection,” says Centra Care President & Senior Medical Director Scott Brady, MD. “We want to remind Floridians that the single best protection against the flu is the flu shot, even for healthy children and adults.”

To help encourage the little ones, Kids Urgent Care and Florida Hospital for Children are sponsoring a special Fun & Free Tent for Kids during two of the free flu shot event days. Bring your children to get a flu shot and while there, they can enjoy: face painting; refreshments; kids activities; Flu Fighter prizes and much more!

Who Should Be Vaccinated?

The CDC recommends an annual flu vaccine for everyone, especially those who are at high risk for developing flu-related complications. Including:

  • Pregnant women
  • Children younger than 5, but especially younger than 2 years old
  • People 50 years of age and older
  • People of any age with certain chronic medical conditions
  • People who live in nursing homes and other long-term care facilities
  • People who live with or care for those at high risk for complications from flu, including:

Health care workers and household contacts of children less than 6 months of age (these infants are too young to be vaccinated)

For those unable to attend one of the Fast & Free Flu Shot events, Centra Care offers convenient, $25 shots, 7-days a week at their 28 Florida urgent care centers; open late and weekends. Walk in anytime, or visit www.centracare.org to schedule an online No Wait Reservation.
