Candlelight Vigil for Orlando – Walk Around the Lake

To show our cities strength, I invite you all to join me next week at Lake Eola, at sunset, to silently honor and remember the events that transpired on the early morning of Sunday 12 June 2016. The City Beautiful was victim to the largest single mass shooting in our nation’s history.

All I ask is one lap around the lake, starting and ending on the corner of 512 E Washington St Orlando, FL 32801, where we will leave our candles and set up a memorial. I encourage everyone bring candles, cups and or flowers to leave behind. I will personally provide about 100 but thousands have been offered as donations. If everyone brought something to share that would be nice to show our community’s strength and support one another. Everyone is encouraged to bring flowers, candles, customs signs of peace (nothing politcial this is just as sign of love for those loss) , Flags of any peacful Country/ organization/ branch of service, etc.

Disney Community #OrlandoStrong Vigil #OrlandoUnited

Meet us at the Partner Statue for a special Kiss Goodnight to show our support for #OrlandoStrong and #Lovewillalwayswin

*This is an unofficial event organized by Disney fans. The Disney company has no involvement. The Kiss Goodnight is the same show played every night, not something Disney put together specifically for the occasion.

*Kiss Goodnight is an after park closing music and castle light show that usually happens a couple of times.

*Magic Kingdom closes at 11pm so you need to be inside the park before that to be able to see the Kiss Goodnight at 11:30pm.

*This is a meet up, not an event, and is free and open for all. But yes, you will need park admission. This event was mainly organized for the many regular visitors of the Disney Parks. Other vigils are planned throughout Orlando if you can’t attend this one.

*The Partners Statue is located in front of Cinderella’s castle.

*Candles are not encouraged inside the park. The Candle app on your phone works quite well.

Copper Rocket’s Concert for Pulse

What do you do in the face of terror? You do what you know, and you get together to fight the damn thing with exactly what our enemies hate: our love, our joy, our community. In light of the horrible events this week in Orlando, affecting friends and family of staff and patrons, we are donating the proceeds and 15% of bar sales to the victims and families who’s lives have been forever changed by this tragedy. We have to stick together and help each other. Come out for live music, beer, wine, food, and friends. It is all going to help.

$5 at the door. You can give more. The more you give, the more we can help.

#WhyWeLoveOrlando: It’s our HOME

It’s been three days since the attack on Pulse Orlando. Forty-nine of our friends and neighbors have been killed, and over 50 more have been injured. We are still shocked, saddened, and angry to the point of tears. Not to mention this was the second senseless act of gun violence this past weekend. Acts like these are not the “norm” here, and they should and will not be the “norm” anywhere else if we have anything to say about it.

Orlando’s response to Sunday’s hateful act of terrorism? LOVE. Citizens of Central Florida are lining the streets, waiting in line for hours to donate blood, water, food, umbrellas, sunscreen, a hug – you name it. Local businesses and moving company of all sizes offer round the clock help to those caring for victims’ families and the survivors, local and federal law enforcement, medical personnel and for the staff at Pulse Orlando in every way possible. THIS is Orlando, and THIS has always been the heart of our Central Florida community. On other news, if you have needs for infrared heating panels for your home or business checkout the link!

THIS is #WhyWeLoveOrlando.

Such senseless acts of hate and violence should not be tolerated anywhere on Earth, and especially in our own backyards. Hearing stories of heroism from Pulse Orlando night club’s staff and patrons, seeing the names on the victim list grow, reading the social media streams from people in countries around the world… this worldwide call to love and action cannot be ignored.

Our community is hospitable and welcoming to all visitors, frequent or first time. We are known globally as the number one tourist destination IN THE WORLD. At a time such as this, we are showing the world what Orlando is REALLY about, no matter the county you live or who signs your paycheck. We will not allow these tragic events to define us nor stop us from living, working, and LOVING where we live.

For the past seven years, Central Florida Top 5’s heart has always been in and with our Central Florida community – and with that of our country and, yes, even our planet. This core philosophy is what made me fall hard for this website and [platonically] with our owner (and heart) Brian Wilson, who is a proud member of the LGBTQ community as are a few of our other writers.

Our entire writing team are of different ages and viewpoints, from different backgrounds, religions, languages… we have it. One thing we agree on, without a doubt; We are all as proud to be Central Floridians today as we’ve ever been, and this will never change.

You know why WE love Orlando. Why do YOU? Locals respond:

First United Methodist Church of Orlando InterFaith Service #OrlandoUnited

We invite you to First United Methodist Church of Orlando, which is hosting an InterFaith Service on Tuesday, June 14 at 7:00 pm in the Sanctuary at First Church Orlando (142 E. Jackson St, Orlando, FL 32801). The building will open at 6:00 pm and all are welcome to bring your own dinner and eat in our gathering space before the service.

The service will include leaders from the religious communities within the city of Orlando that work with Rev. Dr. Jim Coffin, the executive director of the InterFaith Council. Leaders from these religious communities will lead this service. The service will address, with prayer and word, the pain felt by the LGBTQ community, the City of Orlando, and the entire nation. Bob will be the preacher for the service. Spiritual leaders from all religious traditions will be available following the service for conversation, and the building will remain open as long as necessary. You are encouraged to be available following the service for those who may need you.

We both hope you will attend and be witnesses to the hope that comes to us through God’s great love. You can also bring items for first responders and medical professionals that will be distributed through the City of Orlando. These include water, non-perishable snacks, etc. The young people of First Church will then transport the items to the city pickup location. If you desire to bring a memorial item, you may leave that on the green at the Dr. Phillips Performing Arts Center.

If you have questions or resources to be offered, then contact Tom directly at Tom@firstchurchorlando.org and he will respond ASAP.

Continue to pray for the entire City of Orlando, but particularly for those in the LGBT community, for those that are currently serving in the medical and law enforcement response in downtown Orlando, and for those families and friends who are dealing with their tragic loss.

Grace & Peace,
Dr. Bob Bushong, District Superintendent &

Orlando Creative Event Firm Introduces State of the Art Technology at ‘One Orlando Leadership Summit’

Cybis, an Orlando-based creative media and event production company, is proud to introduce a uniquely interactive technology at the 2013 One Orlando Leadership Summit.

Participants in the three-day conference will be able to use their personal mobile devices to engage with presenters during several scheduled events including panel discussions and interactive experiences at various locations across the region. Business leaders will also be able to view custom content, changing in real-time, using the new, interactive system. It’s one of several cutting-edge technologies Cybis is using to keep participants engaged throughout the summit.

Cybis is proud to partner with the Metro Orlando EDC to celebrate the region’s assets, opportunities and the challenges its leaders face in positioning Orlando as a top destination for business. Cybis is providing online development, total show experience for the EDC’s One Orlando event with cutting-edge technology, a dynamic projection-mapped stage, rich motion graphics and live-show support. Cybis hopes to leave attendees enthralled and energized to support Orlando’s growth after this one-of-a-kind, invite-only event.

“As a national company based locally, we are honored to be part of the summit that not only showcases our region, but also brings together the brightest minds and influencers within our community,” says Cybis Founder & CEO, Jeff Douglass. “As an Orlando native myself, I’m especially proud to support an event that creates an environment for our leaders to envision a new phase for our region.”

The Orlando summit, intended for regional CEO and senior-level executives, is being held at the Hyatt Regency Orlando, December 4-6, 2013. Hosted by the Metro Orlando Economic Development Commission, in partnership with the Central Florida Partnership and Visit Orlando, the summit is intended to allow leaders to see firsthand, the regions assets and opportunities within the context of economic challenges facing the community.

The invitation only event includes visits and tours of major regional assets and detailed briefings designed to help attendees understand effective business practices for development. In an effort to engage and encourage a creative environment, Cybis created a fully immersive and sensory experience. This technology allows users to interact, respond and measure participant results in real-time. Anyone in the audience or group can use their own smartphone, tablet or mobile device to interact and stay engaged at every moment of the conference.

“With this event, we seek to showcase the best of Orlando, by communicating and engaging this audience in a way that many of these participants have never seen before,” says Douglass.
