Holiday Hijinks at Rollins Fred Stone Theater with Sleigh!

by Kelly Green

post office TerrenceWant to the find the “happy” in “Happy Holidays”? Look no further than PB&J Theatre Factory’s Sleigh. Presented by the Rollins College Dept. of Theatre and Dance, Sleigh runs for one week (December 17-21) at the Fred Stone Theatre on the Rollins College campus.

Set in the quiet mountain town of Sugar Falls, scenes of the season come to life, from picking out the perfect tree to holiday air travel. And by quiet, I mean… quiet! There are no spoken words in this play (with the exception of an occasional “gingerbread”). Don’t worry, though. There are plenty of silly sounds and accompanying pratfalls that will “speak” volumes. You’ll also hear lots of laughter!

Our family has enjoyed their seasonal silliness many times. It’s a holiday tradition that’s woven its way into our history, as we reenact scenes while baking cookies, or visiting the post office, hearing the music of The Nutcracker, or pulling out an airline boarding pass… giggling the whole time!

nutcrackerIf you need a break from the chaos of the season, or if you just want to enjoy a night of smiles and festive fun that’s appropriate for the whole family, Sleigh will fill the bill. Not to mention filling you with good cheer.

PB&J Theatre Factory Returns with Orlando’s Newest Holiday Tradition, “Sleigh”!

Playing December 6-23, 2012 in the Goldman Theater at the Lowndes Shakespeare Center

PB&J Theatre Factory presents the hilarious and heart-warming original comedy, SLEIGH, playing December 6-23, 2012 at the Lowndes Shakespeare Center (812 East Rollins Street). This time, the team that brought Central Florida audiences SPORT, SNACK, SPLASH, and SHHH! has packed the entire holiday season into one entertaining evening.

It’s lovely weather for a SLEIGH ride together, so bundle up the family and hurry over the river and through the woods to laugh your way through the holidays! A young woman brings her new beau home to meet her family, not suspecting the Christmas gift that he has in store. Meanwhile, a pair of shopkeepers redefines “rivalry” as they coax customers away from their competitor. Finally, three determined mail carriers fight the elements, a poorly addressed letter and each other to make a delivery. SLEIGH is considered a family show and is suitable for most audiences, ages 5 and up.

Dedicated to creating theatrical performances that engage and inspire audiences of all ages, PB&J Theatre Factory’s integrates sound effects, music, and props, to bring you innovative, hilarious, and heartfelt stories without the spoken word. PB&J Theatre Factory has assembled an incredible cast of Orlando audience favorites, including Mike Gill, Ana Eligio, Brandon Roberts, Terrence Yip, and Marty Stonerock.  Directed by Brandon Roberts and the PB&J gang, the creative team includes Zanna King (Lighting Designer), Michael Gill (Sound Designer), Jamie Mykins (Stage Manager), Claud Smith (Scenic Designer), and Denise R. Warner (Costume Coordinator).
