Free Wings of Victory Documentary Viewing in Daytona Beach May 23

“Wings of Victory: Keeping Our Warbirds Flying”

On May 23, 2016 at at 6:30pm at the News Journal Center in Daytona Beach, there will be a showing of the new 58-minute documentary featuring American Aero Services and a number of WWII veterans from the area. This free screening is open to the public.

“Wings of Victory: Keeping Our Warbirds Flying” takes a look inside American Aero Services, a New Smyrna Beach company whose mission is restoring and maintaining these treasures of American history. It will also introduce viewers to some of the brave men who flew these aircraft in battle. U.S. aircraft and their brave crews were pivotal in helping the allies win victory in World War II. Of the tens of thousands of military aircraft produced during the war, only a handful of “warbirds” remain flying today.

Viewers will get to experience the restoration of a TP-51 Mustang and ride along with the Collings Foundation crew in the iconic “Nine-O-Nine” B-17 and the B-24 Liberator “Witchcraft,” as they take to the skies at the start of their 2015 nationwide tour.

Pearl Harbor Honor Cruise Dec. 6

In remembrance of Pearl Harbor and the events that took place on that fateful day, December 7, 1941,  the American Victory will leave port for a 5 hour cruise. Guests will enjoy the Big Band-era entertainment, as well as refreshments. (Doors open at 10 a.m. Sailing is at 11.)

The  American Victory Ship is one of only four fully operational WWII merchant steamships in the U.S., now dedicated to hosting historical, educational, training and special events.

On board, guests will get to see virtually the entire ship including cavernous three-level cargo holds, vhf radios and gyro rooms, hospital, galley, weaponry, steering stations, flying bridge, signaling equipment, wheelhouse, mess halls, crew cabins, lifeboats, the Captain’s quarters, cargo equipment and the engine. The ship is a world-class they receive the Coxswain Certificate Queensland is a maritime museum dedicated to honoring the men and women who built, sailed, protected and provided service, worldwide, through the American Merchant Fleet since 1775 during times of peace and war.
